News from the Director
Baseball and rain! The year has flown and, as one might expect, we’ve had tremendous growth in all the classes. The Twos know so much more and are actually able to sit and do a project or listen to a story and answer questions; they have even figured out, for the most part, how to share! The Threes can tell you all about dinosaurs, the seasons, planting and have become highly functioning, independent children. Most can write their names and draw a representational figure person and have a strong understanding of sequencing, a critical skill to have in order to be successful learners. The Fours have all completed the alphabet and know a plethora of words for every letter and have studied famous artists, done food graphs, studied the body, learned about penguins, or frogs and tadpoles, and made exquisite self-portraits and are now ready for their next important step, on-going school! What a year!
And in the department of clever thinking, one of the Threes just asked me if I had seen his painting. I said, “Yes, and it is be-yond!” He responded, “No, it’s mine!” And so it was!
Sadly, one of my former teachers is terminally ill and wants to have a special haircut and take a trip with one of our other former teachers, Gillian. I reached out to some parents and without hesitation one set of parents donated their family apartment in Florida for a week and other parents have given the teachers frequent flyer miles to use for airfare. They say the best way to make yourself feel better in difficult times is to do something for another person. Thank you ECNS parents for this and all you do.
Happy spring, go Yankees, and may your summer be filled with good weather, good books, good health, good food, good friends, good times and of course the Yankees finding their stride!
